About the Project

I’m making a textile diary as a dowry to someone i don’t know yet. Posibly for my kid, posibly for my future self. The making of the diary and passing it on, are the main elements of this project. I want to let go of this object, and give it as a gift.

אני מכינה יומן טקסטיל כנדוניה למישהו לא ידוע, אולי לילדים שלי? אולי לעצמי העתידית? פעולת ההכנה עצמה, עבודת היד והנתינה העתידית, הם האלמנטים העיקריים בפרויקט. אני רוצה לשחרר את היומן, ולתת אותו כמתנה.

Giver

I’m a textile designer, who choose to sew and embroider a mini-autobiography, and pass it on. The main Principles of my work are minimalism, and documentation in the hebrew language.

Reciever

A close relative or friend. Can continue my work and document their life within the diary, and at some point - pass it on as well.

The relationship between woman and their dowry is a charged and complicated one, and a wide range of affinities arise from it. These affinities reflect the structure that is between the hidden and the exposed, glorification and humility, honor and shame, the personal and the public.

Context

My mini-autobiography, that some day may become a collective-biography. Inventing a secular dowry, that lean on Jewish and textile traditions.

Story

The story of life, continual and unending work. The procces of making the diary deepens the understanding of the relationship between text and textile. My belongings tell my story.
