Final Project

Ceremony becomes text becomes textile

This project is a collection of hand-embroidered fabrics that express questions on Judaism from a secular point of view. The pieces are a result of inner self dialog, one that took place while reading pieces of Yehuda Amichai's poetry.

Issues such as faith, prayer, and wrapping are given material expression through the language of textile. Embroidered details seen in the collection rose from observation of both the fabric pieces and and sentences, and texts were gently embroidered like a whispered prayer. Ceremony becomes text becomes textile.
